Vishwashanthi Nikethan

Valmiki Hill is home to the Sree Narayana Guru Vishwashanthi Nikethan. During the time when the Advaita Ashram was established by Sree Narayana Guru, a man named Velukkutty, who belonged to the Shuraksh community, came into the Guru's presence and became his devotee. Velukkutty had previously served a jail sentence for a crime. In the Guru's presence, Velukkutty underwent a significant transformation, becoming a deeply virtuous individual. It was this Velu who acquired a hill known as Thottumukham, located about 3.5 kilometers from the Aluva Advaita Ashram, from the government in his name and later dedicated it to the Guru. During his stay at the Advaita Ashram, the Guru often visited this hill in the evenings. The name "Valmiki Hill" is associated with Velu's story. Like the transformation of Ratnakara, a bandit who became the sage Valmiki, Velu also transformed from a criminal to a pure-hearted person in the Guru's presence. At that time, the area comprised around 60 acres, but much of the lower land was lost due to encroachment. Currently, 34 acres remain, of which about 16 acres were leased in 1966 for 50 years to the Sree Narayana Sevika Samaj, an organization founded by the Guru's disciple, Parvathi Ayyappan, for their activities. On the top of Valmiki Hill stands the Sree Narayana Guru Vishwashanthi Nikethan, fulfilling the Guru's prophecy that a great institution would be established there. This facility serves as a retreat for those seeking spiritual practice, offering a peaceful sanctuary away from the crowd. Though its activities have just begun, it is envisioned to grow into a significant pilgrimage center in the future. On the other side of Valmiki Hill lies the Sivagiri Vidyaniketan Higher Secondary School, under the Sivagiri Math.
